SEWER RATES
Due to sewer system expansion, sewer rates have changed to accommodate operation, maintenance and replacement. The following may help determining your sewer bill.
Sewer rates are based upon a household's water consumption.
The Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey estimates that an average person uses 80-100 gallons of water a day. They have determined that the largest use of household water is flushing the toilet, after that, taking showers and baths. For conserving water, the City of Williamstown recommends water saving toilets and faucets that only allow a certain water flow per minute.
Conserving water not only helps the environment but saves household money.
To figure your monthly sewer bill your water meter usage, gallon units,
is used. For the first 1,000 gallons, a household is billed $20.19* and
for every additional 1,000 gallon increment, $11.06*.
* rates applicable for 6-1-2011 thru 6-1-2012 billing period
So, using the U.S. Geological Survey data, for an average family of 4, assuming each member uses 80 gallons per day** for a 30 day month,
total water usage is 9,600 gallons.
**note this example is based on computed data
estimates, each household's usage may vary
2400 gallons/month x 4 people = 9,600 gallons
A total of Ten 1,000 gallon increments
For this family of 4, the monthly sewer bill would be $119.73
$20.19 + ($11.06 x 9) = $119.73
